Pakse and the Bolaven Plateau is a nice place to start your holiday in Laos.
With Pakse almost in the middle from South East Asia ;) its very easy to find local and long distance transportation.
In Pakse is an international airport with flights from Laos Airways to:
- Bangkok, Phnom Phen, Siem Reap and
- domestic flights to Savannakhet, Vientiane and Luang Prabang.

From the airport in Ubon, Thailand (see bus information) are also (1 hour) flights to Bangkok available. All flights are with Thai Airways except the Air Asia flight from 09:00.

The morning bus from Pakse arrives at 13:30 in Ubon, the afternoon bus arrives around 18:00 in Ubon with a tuk-tuk time enough to reach the airport right on time to be around 20:00 in Bangkok.
From the airport in Bangkok are also 4 flights to Ubon, Thailand with bus connections from the Ubon bus station to Pakse in Laos. All flights are with Thai Airways except the Air Asia flight from 07:25.

Arrival time in Ubon is 1 hour and 5 minutes later.
In Ubon is a morning (08:30/09:30) and a afternoon bus (15:30) to Pakse in Laos, the morning bus departs some days at 8:30 and other days at 9:30 !!.
The 06:00 flight from Bangkok gives you a direct connection to the morning bus, the 2 other flights from 07:25 and 13:40 give you a connection to the afternoon bus rom 15:30 to Pakse in Laos.
Tuk-Tuk driving time from the airport in Ubon to the bus station is less then 15 minutes.
From Ubon to Pakse is 3 hours by international VIP bus including border passing.
5 minutes from the Ubon Bus station is a very big 'Big C' supermarket to spend some time. ;)
