On the road Pakse - Paksong - Tatheng are different guest houses. From here its easy to discover the Bolaven Plateau and see the waterfalls, coffee plantations, hilltribes and enjoy the cool weather. In Paksong it can be 10 degrees cooler then in Pakse or Attapeu.
Paksong is around 1 hour from Pakse by Bus or by Motorbike.

1. Eat Lao Food - purchasing fresh food in the markets and eating Lao food ensures that you money stays localand supports farmers. When on tour, request to eat in the village instead of taking your own food from town. This will provide villagers with more income and you with an authentic Lao meal.
2. Purchase Local Crafts - Purchasing handicrafts in markets or villags directly supports local artisans and their traditional crafts.
3. Use Local Guides - taking a village guide and / or a local guide from town will make your trip more enjoyable and help employ local people. Inquire about package tours that include local guides, local food and local accomodation.
4. Stay overnight in Villages - staying overnight in a village will provide you with a genuine experience with Lao people and culture. Remember to compensate villagers for accomodation and food. Its best to visit villages with a local guide.
5. Visit National Protected Areas - visiting national protected areas (22 in total) can help support the conservation of Laos' biodiversity.

Guest houses and bungalows in one of the nicest parts on the other side from the Bolaven Plateau in the province of Saravan, with excellent and affordable food, located next to the waterfalls.
Perfect location to stay some more days then usual. Nice place to go from Pakse by a (rented) motorcycle or by bus to Salavan.
Internet available. (but very overpriced: 1.000 kip per minute and slow)
